Overview
The Pangea Fax ATA allows you to connect a traditional fax machine to your internet-based fax service.
Once connected, your faxes will send and receive through your VoIP network rather than a phone line.
Included Equipment
• 1 × Pangea Fax ATA (Grandstream HT801 or HT812)
• 1 × Power Adapter
• 1 × Ethernet Cable
• 1 × Telephone Line Cord
Before You Begin
✅ Ensure you have:
• An active internet connection (router or switch port available)
• Your fax machine powered and ready
• Do NOT connect the ATA to a wall phone jack — it connects only to your fax machine
Step 1: Identify the Ports

PORT | LABEL | FUNCTION |
LAN / WAN | “LAN” or “Internet” | Connects to your router or switch |
☎ PHONE / FXS | “Phone” or “Port 1” | Connects to your fax machine |
POWER | “DC 12V” | Connects to power adapter |
Step 2: Connect the Cables
(illustration placeholder: network diagram showing router → ATA → fax machine)
1. Internet: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into your router or network switch, and the other end into the LAN/WAN port on the Fax ATA.
2. Fax Machine:Connect a telephone cord from your fax machine’s LINE or PHONE jack to the ATA’s FXS port (Port 1).
3. Power: Plug the power adapter into the ATA and then into a wall outlet.
4. Wait about 2 minutes — the Power and Internet lights will turn solid, and the Phone light will illuminate once the fax machine is detected.
Step 3: Verify Network Connection

LED INDICATOR | STATUS | MEANING |
Power | Solid | Device is on |
Internet | Solid | Connected to Network |
Phone | Solid | Fax Line is Ready |
ALL LEDs | Blinking | Registering or transmitting fac |
Internet Light | OFF | Check your ethernet cable or router port. |
Step 4: Test the Fax Line
1. Power on your fax machine.
2. Send a test fax to a known working number (such as a Pangea fax test number).
3. Once successful, ask someone to fax you back to confirm inbound faxing works.
✅ If both send and receive tests pass, your installation is complete!
Step 5: Troubleshooting
PROBLEM | CAUSE | SOLUTION |
No power Light | Unplugged | Check outlet and power adapter |
No internet light | Cable or router issue | Reseat Ethernet cable, reboot router |
No dial tone on fax | Loose cable | Check phone cord to FXS port |
Fax fails to send | Weak signal / wrong mode | Ensure fax machine ECM = Off and Baud = 14,400 or lower |
Registration failed | No network / credentials issue | Contact support |
Recommended Fax Settings (on Fax Machine)
• Baud Rate: 14,400 or lower
• Error Correction Mode (ECM): Off
• Dial Prefix: None
• Auto-Answer: On (optional for inbound fax lines)
